The words of Todd Ahrend echoed throughout the Jack Wyrtzen Center at Word of Life’s campus in Schroon Lake, New York. "Some things in life are optional; some things are not…Becoming a Christ follower is optional. But once you are a Christ follower, being a global Christian is not. We serve a global God. We should be global Christians." The challenge that Todd presented was not just for the students in the room that day. In fact, the call to be a global Christian applies to everyone and is rooted in scriptures such as Matthew 28:18-20 and Acts 1:8. No one is exempt from the Great Commission commands.
Our ministry wholeheartedly believes this is true, and we desire to create easy and practical opportunities for people of all ages to become involved in global missions. One of the best yet simplest ways to do so is through our Fill Water Bottles project. There is nothing more essential to life than water, yet millions of people in developing countries spend several hours every day retrieving it. A water bottle filled with essential items—such as hygiene products, personal care items, school supplies, and something fun—is a practical gift that makes a real difference in a child’s everyday life.
This summer, we want you to be a part of taking the Gospel to the nations through Fill Water Bottles! Each water bottle that is filled results in a Gospel conversation as short-term mission teams will hand deliver bottles in Uganda and Brazil. Not only is a physical need able to be met, but the recipients of these water bottles learn about the One who meets all our needs. Fill Water Bottles provides a great opportunity to emphasize the importance of being a global Christian within families, small groups, and churches!
Some fun ways to get involved this summer are:
Fill bottles with your family or small group
Host a bottle filling party for your youth group
Use Fill Water Bottles as the mission project for your Vacation Bible School
